Heroes Remembered But Never Forgotten
On May 27, 2013 America celebrated Memorial Day, a day of remembering the men and women who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Memorial Day is a nationally recognized holiday, but the opportunity to honor and remember those individuals who gave their lives for America’s freedom exists 365 days a year.
Brian Coss, a veteran Marine and the son of a Navy veteran and truck driver, states that veterans “made a choice years ago to serve our country with no desire for reward or recognition.” He goes on to say, “Memorial Day is a day to remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. So many people think of it as another three-day weekend, a time for backyard barbeques and pool parties. Unfortunately, there are orphans, widows and parents who buried their children that mourn the weekend most of America parties.”
Active duty and military veterans represent a portion of drivers in the trucking industry. Mid South Truckers Group would like the opportunity to honor and remember those individuals 365 days a year through stories, quotes and other statements shared by truck drivers themselves and their family, friends and loved ones.
Help Mid South Truckers Group celebrate the ones we cherish by submitting your personal experiences to Jessica Peart via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. All submissions will be shared through Facebook, Twitter and our blog. MSTG looks forward to hearing from you soon!
