Community Spotlight: Lighting Up The Night For Habitat For Hope
On Friday, April 26, 2013, Account Manager Shanon Cupples joined her husband Rob Cupples, Claims Specialist Jeff Roberts, his wife Christina Roberts and two of their mutual friends in the “Mid-South’s most epic nighttime race.” The LuvGlo 5k supports Habitat for Hope, a non-profit organization that works to “form a community around families who have traveled to the mid-south to receive medical care for their children.”
The LuvGlo 5k took place in downtown Memphis and was facilitated by a group of volunteers and Habitat for Hope staff members. This fun-filled race incorporates music, friends, running, dancing, eating and of course glow-in-the-dark paints and neon-bright apparel.
“It was amazing to see so many people come out, especially at night, to help support a wonderful cause. I felt great after I crossed the finish line, not only because I finished, but because doing something so small made a difference for those families. This is something I will most definitely do again.” – Shanon Cupples
“It was such a unique experience running at night in the streets of downtown Memphis. The neon glow paint and accessories really made all of the runners stand out. To know that we were able to help out Habitat for Hope and assist families of children with serious illnesses really made this event special. I’m looking forward to running again next year!” – Jeff Roberts
“The LuvGlo 5k was one of the most fun and exciting races I’ve done. With all of the neon, glow-in-the-dark paint, unique outfits and music…how could it not be?! Also, the volunteers did an incredible job at keeping everyone inspired and pumped-up throughout the entire race. Overall, it was a blast and I can’t wait to sign-up for LuvMud in September.” – Christina Roberts
